Maciej Kozłowski is a Polish filmmaker based in Warsaw. He has also been a director and a cinematographer in a large number of commercials, including branded content videos, short films and documentaries. He strives to find a fresh and original approach to every project he is involved with. He firmly believes that the story hidden within any script has its own unique structure, which can be shown through images of cinematic language. Indeed, he believes that film-making is always about discovering the deep meaning of scenarios and creating an appropriate, new visual expression. Through his work he has been inspired by personalities in everyday life, together with specific human/movie characters and to follow their reality. Beside that he likes to explore margins of movie language in the hope to find a very new visual storytelling technique. Originally, his first love was photography, when he got a photo camera as a six year old boy. It was a crucial moment and the beginning of his future professional life. Photography taught him how to paint with the light and built a base to be a filmmaker. He is still keen on photography, which nowadays is an important part of his profession. Besides this, he is an academic teacher at a faculty of the Direction of Photography at Lodz Film School, which is an internationally recognised centre of European cinema. He conducts his classes with young cinematographers that are devoted to the creation of film drama through the art of cinematography.
